Universities chop-chop grew at the time when most of people our parents age were growing upwardly, and much less then with people our grandparents age. Cheers for sharing.

I am one of sixteen children. We were all in care. Simply I have gone to university.
5 of my 7 children take been to university. 2 in the Army.
1 grandson graduated from Brighton, now in the Met.
2 about to go in the next couple of years.
The other 14 are likewise young equally is the great granddaughter,

Yh, I volition be the beginning in my family. What differences are there between students with family who have attended academy and student like myself?

Non necessarily whatsoever difference in terms of bookish ability, just students who have parents that attended university can draw upon their experiences and knowledge of College Educational activity to become advice, which students whose parents haven't attended university don't take access to.

That'due south why students who are the first generation in their family to nourish university can ofttimes exist used as a social mobility measurement.

Wow that's certainly is quite a history!

It's interesting to run into how the proportion of university attendees has gone upwards in your family.
From 1/sixteen to five/7 and now all of your grandchildren old enough to go have washed!

Have your ii children who didn't go to university still been happy with their choices not to? It tin can be a difficult option sometimes not to follow your siblings if they've all taken like paths.

Over again, thanks for sharing.

They all had the opportunities. They made their choices. I son has but left the Army after 16 years. He went there straight from schoolhouse. He is now a professional person photographer.

One of my cousins went when I was pocket-sized, so no. I too had another cousin that held iii or 4 degrees, I recall via the OU. He'southward been dead well-nigh x years now.

I'll be the offset in my family to go to uni and no friends or family unit friends have gone to uni and then I have no idea what I'k doing and am just winging it currently. Through the application process I was helped by college but they don't help subsequently that then I'chiliad starting to panic about when to utilise for loans and adaptation and stuff like that. I know I need to await until I get all my offers back merely how long after that? The maintenance loan is bugging me the well-nigh because the amount they'll give me decides what accommodation I can employ for.

Hi there, as Seamus123 said, TSR is a great place to find information, including about student finance. You lot might want to have a look at this folio to answer some of your questions:

Something I did was ask my parents roughly how much would I be entitled to. This table gives a rough guide. That way I could program alee almost spending.

Educatee coin calendar week is normally very early on Feb, close to the time when Educatee Finance applications open.

Yes in the sense of physically going to uni.

However my Dad did a caste through the OU (paid by his employer) erstwhile in the late '00s.

Neither of my parents went to university, but my auntie and some of my cousins did before me

Yeh, unless you include my cousin who went to a post 18 college/uni thing for one week before quitting.

I'm debating whether to go to Keele or not, but I'd be kind of the offset person to go to University and hopefully use my caste out of my family? My Dad never went to University and works in a manufactory, while my Mum went to Border Loma, before its official status, simply did nothing with her degree afterwards. My uncle went to Leeds but then dropped out and went to Bolton near 10 years later as a mature educatee. Lowkey feel similar I have a ton of force per unit area on me to make everyone proud, my Mum always goes on about using my degree and my Uncle wants me to go through and not drop out.

No, Neither of my parents went to academy but my sister started last year and my twin brother started this year and then I am the second/3rd person in my immediate family to go to university.
